English midfielder Keira Walsh became the most expensive footballer in history when she left Manchester City to play for Barcelona, who paid 400,000 euros for her pass.
The Catalan club broke the record set by Danish striker Pernille Harder when Chelsea paid 350,000 euros to German Wolfsburg in 2020.
The 25-year-old central midfielder is one of the figures of the English team that won the Women’s Euro Cup last July and spent her entire career at Manchester City. She has played 97 games in the English league since her debut in 2017, while she scored 6 goals and provided 14 assists.
Barcelona, where Walsh signed a three-year contract, is the current champion of the Spanish league and the only one from his country that could win the Champions League, when he did so in the 2020/21 season.
