The world of Bollywood is buzzing with new faces making their debut. This year has already seen a slew of star kids entering the film industry. Now, Kaveri Kapur, the daughter of renowned director Shekhar Kapoor and actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, has also made her debut. Her new film, ‘Bobby and Rishi’s Love Story’, is now streaming on Hotstar.
Kaveri recently sat down with India Today for an exclusive interview, where she opened up about her film and upcoming projects. She revealed that she will be starring in the sequel to her father’s hit film ‘Masoom’, alongside seasoned actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi. “I’m really excited about it,” she said. “My dad knows me best, and he’ll be able to get the best performance out of me. I’m eager to learn from him, and I know he’ll guide me well.”
Kaveri’s parents are both big names in Bollywood. Her father, Shekhar Kapoor, has directed several superhit films, while her mother, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, has acted in several notable films, including ‘Kabhi Haan, Kabhi Naa’ alongside Shah Rukh Khan. When asked about nepotism in the industry, Kaveri acknowledged that it’s a sensitive topic. “I understand that outsiders don’t get the same opportunities as those from film families, and that can be frustrating,” she said. “But nepotism exists in every field, not just Bollywood. A doctor’s child often becomes a doctor, and a lawyer’s child becomes a lawyer.”
Kaveri also pointed out that she’s passionate about acting and music, and it would be wrong to not pursue her dreams just because of her family background. “If acting is my passion, and it brings me joy, then I want to do it for the rest of my life,” she said. “And to those who call us ‘nepo babies’, I ask, wouldn’t they take the opportunity if they were in our shoes?”
Kaveri’s film ‘Bobby and Rishi’s Love Story’ is a romantic tale that premiered on Hotstar on February 11. The film is directed by Kunal Kohli, who has previously helmed films like ‘Hum Tum’ and ‘Fana’. Kaveri stars alongside Varshan Puri, the grandson of late actor Amrish Puri, in the film.
