Katy Perry’s ‘Discreet’ Romance with Former PM Justin Trudeau Intensifies

Pop superstar Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s burgeoning romance is intensifying. Sources close to the couple report Perry is “very enthusiastic” and “very happy” about the relationship.

Perry, 40, is reportedly focused on keeping the romance discreet. The pair has spent significant time together privately, as Perry does not want to make the relationship public at this stage.

Friends of the singer believe she and Trudeau, 53, are a good match. However, Trudeau has not yet met many of Perry’s close friends.

Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for both Perry and Trudeau for comment.

Rumors of a relationship first sparked in July. Trudeau was seen dining with Perry in Montreal following her separation from actor Orlando Bloom. Perry shares a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, with Bloom, 48. She was previously married to Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.

Trudeau was also seen attending a stop on Perry’s ‘Lifetimes’ tour in the Canadian city.

The former Prime Minister announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in 2023, after 18 years of marriage. They have three children. Trudeau served as Canada’s Prime Minister from 2015 until March of this year.

In September, multiple sources confirmed to Us that the duo continued to see each other privately. One source stated they had opted for greater privacy but remained “very much into one another.”

Another insider noted that the relationship was "not serious" at the time, citing Perry’s demanding tour schedule. Trudeau had made plans to visit Perry during a break in her tour.

Perry’s ‘Lifetimes’ tour began in Mexico City in April and is scheduled to conclude on December 7.

Recent public sightings have added fuel to the speculation. Earlier this month, Perry and Trudeau were photographed showing affection aboard her yacht, Caravelle, off the coast of Santa Barbara, California.

Days later, Perry made a suggestive joke during her October 13 concert at London’s O2 Arena. She told the crowd, "No wonder I always fall for the English… but not anymore," in a line reportedly referencing her new romance.

The pop icon further fueled rumors on October 20 by liking a satirical Instagram post from The Onion. The post featured a fake headline: "Katy Perry Releases New Single About Superiority Of Canadian Manufacturing." It included a humorous, fabricated quote from Perry about her appreciation for Canadian industries.
