A new face has joined Sp. Braga’s women’s squad. Kassidy Banks, a 22-year-old central defender, makes the significant jump from American college football to the European professional game. She arrives from the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, where she led her team as captain, a clear sign of her leadership qualities.
Hailing from New York, Banks was recognized as a ‘One to Watch’ in the Big Ten, a top college conference. Her move signals a fresh chapter. She shared her excitement with the club’s media. “Sp. Braga’s interest felt very special to me,” Banks explained. “It was an opportunity I simply could not pass up. I know I’ve joined a fantastic club, and I’m incredibly excited for what’s ahead.” She described her playing style: “I’m a tough defender. I thrive in one-on-one situations. I also make sure my voice is heard on the field, helping my teammates stay organized.”
Banks is already settling in with her new squad. “The team atmosphere is wonderful,” she noted. “Everyone, from the players to the staff, has helped me feel at home from the very first moment.” She understands the shift in football culture. “The game here is different. There are a lot more physical challenges,” she observed. “It’s a welcome challenge, and it will push me to improve as a player every single day.” Banks has now joined the group under coach Marwin Bolz. They are getting ready for a Europa Cup match against Anderlecht on the 8th, to be played in Brussels, Belgium.
