By the way, Kartikeya hails from Uttar Pradesh. His father Shyamnath Singh is in the police. Apart from this, the mother Sunita Singh is a housewife. He started his cricket career at UP, but he didn’t get many opportunities there. After which he came to Delhi. Where he started training with trainer Sanjay Bhardwaj. Speaking of his wrestling days, he said he hasn’t been home for the past nine years. He said, ‘I thought when I finish something, I’ll come home.’ My family calls a lot but I don’t go. My mother calls me more.

Speaking about his journey, he said that his coach Sanjay Bhardwaj spoke for him in Madhya Pradesh. Following his advice, he played in the Shahdol division. After which he was selected on the waiting list for the U-23 MP selection.

When Kumar Karthikeya was fed into Ranji’s team selection trials, he took five wickets. After this, he returned to play a practice tournament in Mysore with the MP team. If he performed well here, he was selected for the ODI team. After which he took 8 wickets in four matches. After which he too was included in Ranji’s team. In the 2018-19 season, he made his Ranji debut and in the third match against Himachal Pradesh he took a total of nine wickets including five wickets in one innings.
