Tamannaah Bhatia’s appointment as the brand ambassador of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited has sparked controversy in the state. The company, which manufactures Mysore Sandal Soap, announced the decision on May 22, drawing criticism from the public and local organizations. Many feel that a Kannada actor should have been chosen to represent the brand.
Karnataka Minister MB Patil addressed the situation, stating that the decision was part of a broader brand strategy to promote KSDL products at the national and international levels. He emphasized that Tamannaah was chosen due to her massive fan following, with over 2.8 million social media followers, which will help the brand connect with a younger audience.
When asked why other popular actresses like Rashmika Mandanna, Pooja Hegde, Kiara Advani, and Deepika Padukone were not chosen, Patil explained that some were not available, while others were already associated with other brands or exceeded the budget. He added that the goal is to increase KSDL’s sales to Rs 5,000 crore by 2030, requiring a strong marketing strategy.
On the work front, Tamannaah is currently busy shooting for her upcoming project “Vivan” alongside Sidharth Malhotra, scheduled for release in 2026. The film is set in the dense jungles of central India and is based on a mysterious folk tale.
The controversy surrounding Tamannaah’s appointment as brand ambassador has been making headlines, with many taking to social media to express their opinions. While some support the decision, others feel that a local actor would have been a better choice to represent the brand.
