Karl Towns and Al Horford lead the DR preselection towards the Basketball World Cup

The Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal) announced this Wednesday the national preselection with a view to the 2023 World Championship that will be played between August 25 and September 10 in Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia.

The national team is part of Group A together with Italy, Angola and the locals from the Philippines, which is based in Manila in the first phase of the World Cup competition in which there will be a total of 32 teams, divided into eight groups of four teams. each.

Those led by the Argentine coach Néstor -Ché- García, who has a 9-0 record in his last matches (4-0 in qualifying for the World Cup and 5-0 in the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador 2023), they will have their first match on Friday, August 25 in the city of Manila against the host squad of the Philippines.

The information was provided by Rafael Uribe, president of Fedombal, at a press conference held in the James Rodríguez room of the Ministry of Sports, where he was accompanied by coach Ché García; Garibaldy Bautista, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD); and Vice Minister of Sports Kennedy Vargas, representing Minister Francisco Camacho Rivas.

Uribe presented the list of 30 players who will make up the national pre-selection and another seven as guests, who have been here since this Wednesday, at 6:00 p.m., completing the physical preparation stage on the Training Field of the Project of National Teams located in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

The list is headed by Andrés Feliz, Gelvis Solano, Jean Montero, Richard Bautista, Víctor Liz, Rigoberto Mendoza, Chris Duarte, LJ Figueroa, Lester Quiñones, Juan Miguel Suero, Gerardo Suero, Luis Montero, Justin Minaya, Jassel Pérez and Ángel Luis Delgado .
