The aroma of fresh coffee and the chatter of happy customers are back at Kaps Cafe. Just ten days ago, this vibrant spot, co-owned by comedian Kapil Sharma, faced a frightening incident. But true to its spirit, the cafe in Surrey, Canada, has thrown open its doors again, ready to serve up smiles.
The journey to reopening wasn’t easy. On July 10, in the quiet hours of early morning, unidentified individuals fired multiple shots outside the cafe. It was about 1:50 AM local time. Police confirmed the attack. Some staff members were inside at the time, but thankfully, no one was hurt.
This shocking event happened just days after Kapil Sharma and his wife, Ginni Chatrath, proudly launched Kaps Cafe. News of the attack quickly spread, leaving many worried. Kapil Sharma himself spoke about the incident, confirming the unsettling news.
After the shooting, the cafe shared a heartfelt message online. They wrote about their dream of bringing joy through coffee and conversation. They admitted the violence was heartbreaking. Yet, they ended their post with a promise: they were recovering from the shock and would not give up.
Now, that promise has come true. The cafe recently posted on its Instagram page, “We missed you so much. We are truly grateful for your love and support. With heartfelt thanks, we are reopening our doors. We are ready to welcome you. See you soon.”
Kapil Sharma proudly shared this message on his own Instagram story. He simply wrote, “Proud of the team,” praising the resilience and hard work of everyone involved in getting the cafe back on its feet.
Police officials believe the shooting was a targeted attack. They are looking into possible links to the Laddi gang. There is also suspicion of a connection to the banned terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Despite the dark shadows of such serious allegations, Kaps Cafe stands as a bright beacon, showing that even after a terrifying incident, a community can come together and rebuild.
