Karnataka’s Kollur is currently buzzing with the filming of Kantara 2, starring and directed by Rishab Shetty. The production has been marred by several mishaps in recent months. Just last Tuesday, a junior artist from Kerala met a tragic end while filming. M.F. Kapil, the young talent, drowned in the Souparnika River. The incident has sent shockwaves through the film industry.
A Tough Shoot
The crew had been facing numerous challenges during the shoot. Just a while back, a bus carrying junior artists overturned, fortunately, without any major injuries. Heavy rains also took a toll on the set, damaging expensive equipment. These incidents have raised concerns about the safety measures in place.
The Kollur police station has registered a case regarding Kapil’s death and is investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. The film’s production has been put on hold following the incident. According to the crew, Kapil had gone for a swim during the lunch break and was swept away by the strong currents of the river. A rescue operation was launched, involving local residents and firefighters.
Release Plans
Despite the setbacks, the makers are pushing forward with their plans. Kantara 2 is slated for a pan-India release on October 2, 2025. The first part of the film was well-received across the country, and the anticipation for the sequel is building up. The film’s success will be a testament to the crew’s resilience and dedication to their craft.
