Kangana Ranaut is firing back at comedian Kunal Kamra. He made a joke about Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Now, she’s calling him out.
This isn’t the first time Kunal has gotten under her skin. When the BMC tore down her office, he made a joke about it. “He was making fun of me,” she says. “What happened to me was illegal. What’s happening to them is legal.”
She’s not holding back. “You can be anyone, but insulting someone… a person’s dignity is everything. Whether you’re in the government or in power.”
Kangana says, “You’re using comedy as an excuse to disrespect them. You’re ignoring their work.” She brings up Eknath Shinde’s past, saying he used to drive a rickshaw. “Where are their achievements? What have they done with their lives? I say, if they can write something, they should.”
There’s a video going around of Kunal’s old talk show. It’s from 2020, when the BMC demolished her bungalow. He’s on the show with Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, supporting the demolition and even posing with a toy bulldozer.
Kangana is speaking out against Kunal’s comedy, saying it’s not funny. “We’re making fun of our scriptures, people, mothers, and sisters. These influencers are saying they’re doing it for 2 minutes of fame. Where is our society going?”
