New Zealand captain Kane Williamson on Saturday dismissed the talk of a “grand finale” against Australia in the T20 World Cup, saying it’s like another match for us where he will focus on maintaining his good momentum.

The New Zealand team reached the final of the 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cups and won the first World Trials Championship. “It’s a reflection of a lot of hard work, but tomorrow is just one more match for us and we will focus on the little things again,” Williamson said on the eve of the match.

He said: “This team is doing well collectively and they definitely support each other. It is important for us to try to learn regularly and we have also seen it. Tomorrow our for that. We will have another chance.”

Despite the consistency in performance, New Zealand will reach the final as the ‘underdog’ and that does not matter to the captain. Williamson said: “It doesn’t really mean that much to us. We focus on our cricket and do everything we can to keep improving as a team. We have control over individual brands or something. Not there.”
