Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life Release Faces Hurdles in Karnataka

Kamal Haasan’s film “Thug Life” is facing trouble in Karnataka. The Supreme Court has refused to hear a petition seeking security for theaters screening the film.

Theaters in Karnataka have been receiving threats, with some groups warning they will set the cinemas on fire if they show the film. This is because Kamal Haasan made a controversial comment about the Kannada theater during the film’s promotion. The Karnataka Theater Association filed a petition in the Supreme Court, asking for protection.

A bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Manmohan told the Karnataka Theater Association to approach the Karnataka High Court. The court also suggested that theaters install fire extinguishers.

The film was released on June 5 in other parts of the country, but not in Karnataka due to the controversy. “Thug Life” is a gangster action drama film directed by Mani Ratnam, with Kamal Haasan as the co-writer and co-screenplay writer. This film marks the first collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam in many years.
