Kajol Defends Acting Grind: “No Tea Breaks for Us”

Kajol has directly addressed the widespread online criticism following her recent remarks comparing the demands of acting to a standard 9-to-5 profession. The acclaimed actress has offered a robust defense of her career’s challenges.

The controversy began when Kajol stated that the entertainment industry required more intensive work than traditional office jobs. This comment quickly led to significant backlash across social media platforms.

She later used her talk show, ‘To Much,’ to clarify and reinforce her original statement, detailing the unique pressures actors endure.

In an interview, Kajol described acting as an extremely “active” profession that demands unwavering focus during filming. She underscored the constant vigilance required from performers.

Recounting her experience shooting for “The Trial 2,” Kajol mentioned working for 35 to 40 continuous days. Throughout this period, strict adherence to diet and exercise regimens was essential.

She explained that even minor alterations in an actor’s physical appearance could undermine an entire production. This level of scrutiny places immense pressure on individuals in the industry.

Kajol contrasted this with typical 9-to-5 roles, where employees can take breaks and find moments of relaxation. Actors, she argued, do not have this flexibility.

She emphasized that every gesture, from how they sit to how they smile, is constantly observed and judged. Kajol likened actors to a “kettle, always boiling,” highlighting their perpetual state of alertness and frequent tension.

Beyond her talk show ‘To Much,’ which she co-hosts with Twinkle Khanna, Kajol has several projects underway.

She is slated to appear in the upcoming film ‘Maharagini.’

This year, audiences have also seen her in significant roles in the films ‘Maa’ and ‘Sar Zameen.’
