According to Afghan media reports, a loud explosion was heard in the Afghan capital, after which security and rescue teams set out to determine the location.
Security forces later confirmed that the blast took place in Kabul, in an attempt to target the defense minister.
According to police officials, an explosion occurred outside the home of Defense Minister Bismillah Mohammadi, shortly after which the assailants opened fire and fled.

Sources close to Defense Minister General Bismillah confirmed that he and his family were safe.
The Interior Ministry confirmed the explosion and said there were no victims, a group of armed militants participated in the operation. No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
