Juventus Misses Champions League Spot, Roma Secures Europa League Berth

The Italian Serie A season finale had it all – drama, suspense, and plenty of twists. With the title already decided, all eyes were on Turin and Venice, where Roma and Juventus battled for the last Italian spot in the UEFA Champions League.

Roma got the job done quickly, thanks to a penalty kick by Leandro Paredes and a winning header by Saelemaekers. They needed to win and hope Juventus would slip up in Venice.

In Venice, the hosts took an early lead with Daniel Fila’s goal, but Juventus responded fast. However, Alberto Costa’s equalizer was called back due to a handball. Yldiz eventually put Juventus ahead, and Kolo Muani sealed the comeback.

The drama wasn’t over. Haps tied the game, putting Roma back in the Champions League spot. But in the final 20 minutes, Locatelli secured the 3-2 win for Juventus with a penalty kick.

Champions League Dreams

Juventus finished fourth with 70 points, one more than Roma, who will play in the Europa League next season. The giallorossi will be joined by Bologna, who won the Italian Cup, and Fiorentina, who beat Udinese 3-2 to secure sixth place and a Conference League spot.

In a stunning turn of events, Lazio missed out on European football after losing 0-1 to Lecce at home.

Relegation Battle

Danilo Veiga’s team secured their spot in Serie A, crushing Nuno Tavares’ European dreams. Parma also pulled off a surprise, beating Atalanta 3-2 with a late goal from Ondrejka. This win saved Parma from relegation, sending Empoli and Venice down instead.
