Justin Timberlake’s Lyme Disease Halts NSync Reunion Tour Indefinitely

Get ready to say “Bye Bye Bye” to an ‘NSync reunion tour, at least for now. Fans have been buzzing about the iconic boy band possibly hitting the road again. They were closer than ever to a huge stadium tour. However, sources close to the group told Us Weekly that these exciting plans are now on hold indefinitely.

The other four members were totally on board. JC Chasez, 49, Lance Bass, 46, Joey Fatone, 48, and Chris Kirkpatrick, 53, were all ready to go. But a major hurdle came up for Justin Timberlake, 44. The timing just wasn’t right for him. Justin had been busy with his own ‘Forget Tomorrow World Tour,’ which ran from April 2024 until this past July. Right after wrapping that up, he shared some difficult news. He announced his diagnosis with Lyme disease, calling it “relentlessly debilitating.” He even posted on Instagram, saying, “Honestly, I don’t know what my future on stage will be, but I will always treasure this chapter! And all the ones before it!”

The good news is, the rest of the band is standing by Justin. Sources said that Chasez, Bass, Fatone, and Kirkpatrick don’t want to tour without him. They have publicly shown their support for Justin during this tough time. Lance Bass shared his encouragement on his Instagram story in July. He wrote, “Proud of you, brother. Wishing you a well-deserved rest and lots of love. Congrats on an incredible tour.”

Chris Kirkpatrick also spoke out to his followers. He said he “couldn’t be prouder” to call Timberlake a friend. Chris added that Justin’s recent tour showed a new level of strength. He watched Justin battle Lyme disease day after day, yet still perform every night. “The long days, the travel, the exhaustion… and still, he never gave up. No complaints, no excuses, just heart, guts, and pure determination. That kind of resilience is rare.” Kirkpatrick finished by saying, “Tour life is already tough, but doing it while fighting Lyme disease? That’s superhero stuff. To strength, perseverance, and an unforgettable tour. I love you, little brother!”

‘NSync has popped up together a few times in recent years. Everyone remembers their 2013 performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. They sang “Girlfriend” and “Bye Bye Bye” as part of Justin’s Video Vanguard medley. However, they haven’t toured as a full five-person group since way back in 2002.

It turns out the tour isn’t the only thing delayed. A second source shared that the Grammy-nominated group had many plans for their 30th anniversary this year. These celebrations are now also postponed. Fans might recall that the group dropped “Better Place” in 2023. This was their first new song in twenty years and appeared on the soundtrack for Justin’s ‘Trolls Band Together.’

Whenever the stars finally align for an ‘NSync reunion, fans are in for a treat. Joey Fatone teased Us last year about what might be coming. He hinted that if they do tour, “people will probably see something they’ve never seen before… and everything they’ve already seen.”

Us Weekly reached out to representatives for Timberlake, Chasez, Bass, Fatone, and Kirkpatrick for comments on this news.
