Junior Film Review: Kireeti’s Dance Outshines Story Amidst Mixed Reactions

The silver screen welcomed a new face on July 18, as “Junior” hit theaters. This Telugu and Kannada film marks the debut of Kireeti Reddy. He is the son of Gali Janardhan Reddy, a former minister from Karnataka. Directed by Radhakrishna Reddy, the movie also stars Sreeleela and Genelia Deshmukh. But did Kireeti’s big moment shine bright? Early reactions from viewers on social media platform X suggest a mixed bag.

The film has not exactly received a standing ovation from audiences. Many viewers felt the story struggled to keep up. Despite the grand launch, the movie’s overall emotional connection seemed to be missing. Yet, some particular elements did manage to catch people’s attention.

One of the most talked-about aspects is Kireeti Reddy’s dancing. During the film’s promotions, Kireeti openly shared his admiration for actor Jr. NTR. It seems his dance moves impressed some, drawing comparisons to the younger Jr. NTR. One fan on X even wrote, “Dance Moves 🤯🤯 & Body Flexibility 👏👏🔥. Acham Tiger Ni Chustunatlu Undhi 💥💥. True @tarak9999 Fanboy @KireetiOfficial ❤️🔥❤️🔥. #Junior”

However, not all feedback was glowing. The first half of “Junior” was called average, while the second half was seen as emotional. Many X users shared critiques. A common complaint was the push to present Kireeti as a “hero” from the start. “When a film tries to highlight a debutant, it needs to be simple and effective,” one user commented. “Trying to project him as a big star will always backfire. ‘Junior’ is an all mixed fruit juice, with many films being brought in to make this one film with no proper character building or emotional… It just feels like a tiring exercise.”

Another user pointed out the film’s weak storyline. They felt the plot dragged the movie down. “The movie is fairly average, held back by a routine plot, an unconvincing antagonist, and a limited emotional connection,” they wrote. “The second half feels predictable.” Despite this, they praised Kireeti’s “impactful debut,” Sreeleela’s “lively presence,” and DSP’s “powerful background score.”

However, some fans were genuinely impressed with Kireeti’s performance as a newcomer. One X user called him a “showstopper.” They wrote, “His electrifying dance moves lit up the screen with unmatched energy & grace. His precision in fight sequences were thrilling & the ease in his acting is absolutely captivating. With this stellar start he has a bright future.”

The film “Junior” tells the story of a young man named Abhi. He works for Vijay Soujanya. Abhi soon uncovers surprising facts about Genelia and her father’s past. These discoveries could change his own relationship with his father.
