Julio Rodriguez hit a two-run homer, Jesse Winker followed with a solo shot and Eugenio Suarez completed a three-straight homer attack as the Seattle Mariners beat the Oakland Athletics 8-2 on Tuesday night.

The three consecutive home runs came in the seventh inning and were enough for Seattle to win this duel between rivals from the West Division of the American League with disastrous seasons.

Taylor Trammell homered leading off the third inning for the Mariners, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Seattle had lost five of six games and seven of nine, but caught fire this time, at the start of a six-visit road trip.

Rodriguez scored from the start on Winker’s double in the sixth inning. Ty France added the difference with an RBI single to start a five-run seventh inning for Seattle.

Later, Rodríguez hit his ninth home run of the season.

Left-hander Marco Gonzales (4-7) gave up seven hits in seven outstanding innings to snap a three-hitter streak. He hadn’t won in five starts since he beat the A’s on May 23.

For the Mariners, the Dominican Rodríguez 4-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. The Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez 4-1 with a run scored and an RBI.

For the Athletics, the Dominicans Ramón Laureano 4-0, Christian Pache 3-2. Panamanian Christian Bethancourt 4-0. The Venezuelan Elvis Andrus 4-0.
