Julio Rodríguez hits his 12th home run as the Mariners defeat the Angels 6-2

Julio Rodríguez went 3 for 5 with a home run, and the Seattle Mariners beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-2 on Saturday, despite Shohei Ohtani hitting his third home run in five games.

JP Crawford tied his career high with four hits, Eugenio Suárez had three and Seattle posted a season high with 16 hits.

Ohtani is tied for third on this season’s home run list with 18 homers. He has hit 12-for-28 during a hot streak in the last seven games.

It’s the third time in seven years in the majors that Crawford has hit four hits. Her contribution came at an opportune moment.

He was mired in a streak in which he had gone 1-for-17 in his last five games. Suárez was also struggling, with just two hits in 22 turns during the first six games of this tour.

Gabe Speier (2-1) bagged the win.

Rodriguez led off the scoring with a two-run shot off Patrick Sandoval (3-6) in the third inning. The center fielder, last year’s AL Rookie, is hitting .366 in his last 16 games (26-for-71), with five home runs and 15 RBIs.

For the Mariners, the Dominicans Rodríguez 5-3 with a run scored and two RBIs, Teoscar Hernández 5-1 with a run scored and an RBI. Venezuelan Suárez 4-3 with one scored and one produced.

For the Angels, Colombian Gio Urshela 4-1.
