Julio Rodríguez hits 12 homers in Seattle’s win over Orioles

Julio Rodriguez hit his 12th homer of the season as part of a six-run fourth-inning drive, and the Seattle Mariners beat the Baltimore Orioles 9-3 for their seventh win in their last nine games.

The Mariners took two of the three games in the series against Baltimore after finishing a 5-1 road trip last week.

Rodriguez’s board traveled approximately 431 feet and landed on the second deck in left-center field at T-Mobile Park. The Dominican is batting .288 with seven doubles, six home runs and 15 RBIs during June.

Starter Chris Flexen (4-8) had received a run or less from support in nine of his first 14 starts this year, so Wednesday’s matchup was a big turnaround. He pitched six innings in which he gave up three runs and seven hits.

Seattle’s starters have given up three earned runs or fewer in 26 of their last 27 starts.

Baltimore starter Austin Voth (0-1) pitched just three innings facing his hometown team for the first time. Voth allowed four hits but just one earned run in his third start for the Orioles this season.

For the Mariners, the Dominicans Rodríguez 4-1 with three RBIs and one scored; Carlos Santana 3-0. The Venezuelans Abraham Toro 4-2 with two scored; Eugenio Suárez 4-1 with a run scored.

For the Orioles, the Venezuelans Rougned Odor 3-1; Anthony Santander 5-1 with a run scored. Dominican Jorge Mateo 4-1 with a run scored. Panamanian Jonathan Araúz 4-0.
