Julián Álvarez: Argentina’s Sole Tattoo-Free Player Cites Father’s Warning

Argentine international Julián Álvarez has revealed he is the sole member of his national team without tattoos, a personal choice influenced by his upbringing.

The 25-year-old forward, who plays for Spanish club Atlético Madrid, confirmed this unique status in an interview with French sports newspaper L’Équipe. He stated he has never felt the desire to get body art.

Álvarez explained that his father consistently advised against tattoos, along with smoking and alcohol, during his youth.

“The other day, in the national team, someone warned me that I was, in fact, the only player who didn’t have tattoos,” Álvarez told L’Équipe. “I don’t do this to be different from others.”

He added that while adults make their own choices, he personally does not feel the need for tattoos.

Álvarez also discussed his positive working relationship with Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone. He credited Simeone with “rescuing” him from Manchester City last summer.

The striker highlighted their shared footballing philosophy, which includes passion, hard work, and dedication. He noted their collective desire to compete fiercely against rival clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona, never giving up and believing until the end.

Álvarez reported that Simeone offers him trust and total freedom on the pitch.

This season, Álvarez has contributed significantly to Atlético Madrid, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 15 games.
