Julia Roberts and her husband, Danny Moder, looked as sweet as ever during a recent trip to Venice. The famous actress, 57, and her cinematographer husband, 56, have been married for 23 years. It’s clear they still enjoy quiet, loving moments together.
Roberts shared a heartwarming photo on Instagram this past Friday, August 29. The picture showed her snuggled up in the back of a water taxi. She rested her head on Moder’s lap as he gazed out at the beautiful horizon. Roberts simply captioned the sweet snapshot with “Venice 🥰”.
Just hours before this tender moment, Roberts was shining solo at the Venice International Film Festival. She attended the premiere of director Luca Guadagnino’s new movie, ‘After the Hunt.’ Roberts stars in the film alongside a talented cast including Andrew Garfield, Ayo Edebiri, Chloë Sevigny, and Michael Stuhlbarg.
During a press conference earlier in the week, Roberts spoke about the film’s take on feminism. She noted how the movie aims to spark conversation. “There are many old arguments that are revived in this film in a way that generates discussion,” she explained. Roberts loved hearing how people left the theater talking about the movie. “That’s how we wanted it to be: that everyone would leave with different feelings, emotions, and points of view,” she added.
She continued, “You figure out what you firmly believe and what your convictions are because we stir everything up for you. So, you’re welcome.” ‘After the Hunt’ is a psychological drama. It follows Roberts as a university professor facing a tough situation. Her character finds herself at a crossroads when a student, played by Edebiri, accuses a colleague, played by Garfield, of assault.
Roberts gave a peek into the movie’s plot, describing it as a chain reaction of trouble. “It’s like dominoes of conflict: one falls, and suddenly, everywhere you look, there’s a new piece of conflict and challenge,” she shared. “That’s what makes it worth getting up and going to work in the morning.”
Balancing a successful acting career with family life is something Roberts does well. She and Moder are parents to three children: twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, both 20, and their son Henry, 18. She finds immense joy in her role as a homemaker.
“When I’m not working, [being a homemaker] is my full-time job,” Roberts told CBS Sunday Morning in October 2022. She admitted that not every day is perfect. “Not every day is rainbows and kittens, but it brings me so much joy,” she said. Roberts stressed that acting, while a dream come true, isn’t her only fulfilled dream.
She emphasized her priorities, saying, “The life I’ve built with my husband and the one we’ve built with our children is the best. Coming home at the end of the day, triumphant, with them.” Roberts and Moder have shared a beautiful journey for over two decades, tying the knot in July 2002 before starting their family.
