Judge hits 2 home runs and Yankees beat Rays 5-4, Bruján homers

Aaron Judge hit his 26th and 27th homers of the season, the most in the major leagues, José Treviño hit a two-run homer to put New York ahead in the eighth inning, and the Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays.

Judge’s 22nd career homer game helped the Yankees erase a 4-1 deficit after Isaac Paredes hit his fourth homer in the last two games for the Rays.

Clarke Schmidt (4-2) got the win and Clay Holmes retired the ninth inning scoreless for his 12th save in 13 chances.

The Yankees won for the 18th time in 21 games to hold a 12-game lead atop the AL East.

Tampa Bay suffered its eighth loss in 11 games, after losing two of three to the Yankees and its fourth consecutive series, which had not happened since August 2017.

Treviño hit his sixth home run of the season off Ralph Garza Jr. (0-2) after Isiah Kiner-Falefa led off the eighth inning by walking, one of eight Tampa Bay pitchers issued over the last five innings.

For the Yankees, the Venezuelan Gleyber Torres 2-0.

For the Rays, the Dominicans Vidal Bruján 4-1 with three RBIs and one scored; Francisco Mejía 4-1 with a run scored. The Mexican Paredes 4-1 with one produced and one scored. Colombian Harold Ramírez 3-1. Cubans Randy Arozarena 4-1; Yandy Diaz 4-0.
