The Joventut de Badalona had no mercy on Baxi Manresa, which he destroyed with a resounding victory (105-61) in a match that left him almost resolved at half-time to add his third victory, all at home, in the Endesa League.
The green and black showed that on their track they will be a difficult team to beat and with a choral game they overflowed those of Pedro Martínez, that without success from the three-point line and below in the rebound they could never match the local game.
Brandon Paul with 16 points was the leading scorer of the match in their best match since their return to Badalona and up to seven green-black players scored ten or more points. By the Baxi Manresa his best player was Gabe Moneke with 14 points.
La Penya played a sensational first half in which he scored 51 points and did not give any option to the Manresa team, whose lack of success in the triple in the first quarter (1 of 7) led him to go in tow from the middle of the first room.
Guillem Vives starred in the first minutes of his team’s attack and was later joined by Pau Ribas to put a nine-point lead (19-10, min. 7).
Moneke raised the spirits of Baxi Manresa along with his zone defense in the final minutes of the first quarter and a Valtanen basket in the first attack of the second period seemed to put Pedro Martínez’s men in the game (21-15, min. 11).
The reality was different. A triple by Andrés Feliz and a basket by the Dominican base after stealing a ball in midfield launched La Penya, that with a partial of 13-2 he put 19 points up (34-15, min. 15) with absolute dominance on both sides of the court.
Dani Pérez and Moneke tried again after La Penya surpassed a 20-point lead (43-22, min. 18) but two triples from Pau Ribas and Brandon Paul In the last minute they left Badalona’s team at their maximum advantage at halftime (51-26).
The Manresa tried to change the already complicated dynamics of the match with a zonal defense at the beginning of the third quarter that Brodziansky and Paul broke at the first exchange. The American escort claimed victory with two triples that put La Penya above 30 points (66-35, min. 27).
The young Zsombor Maronka took advantage of the inertia of the game, completely broken, to show his talent to the Badalona public with eight points in the final stretch of the quarter that ended with the locals 33 points up (78-45).
The last ten minutes were eternal for the Manresa team while the green and black wanted the game to never end and continue to make their fans enjoy. Parra and Feliz led La Penya to what would be their maximum difference (103-57, min. 39).
