Josh Giddey Falls Short Of Michael Jordan Record In Bulls Loss To Lakers

Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey matched up against Luka Doncic but failed to catch Michael Jordan on the all-time franchise triple-double list during a recent loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Giddey entered the contest chasing the milestone after recently passing Scottie Pippen for sole possession of second place in Chicago Bulls history. The Lakers defense contained Giddey enough to prevent another historic statistical night.

Giddey secured his 16th career triple-double for Chicago in just 112 games during a 126-110 loss to the Sacramento Kings, pushing him past Pippen. Jordan holds the all-time franchise record with 28 triple-doubles, accumulated over 930 regular-season games.

Beyond the historical chase, Giddey has fundamentally shifted his offensive profile. During the current 2025-26 basketball season, Giddey is shooting 37.3 percent from three-point range on an average of 5.0 attempts per game. The perimeter shooting marks a direct statistical increase from a 26.3 percent mark in his rookie season, addressing what scouts previously labeled a glaring weakness in his mechanics.

The Australian guard continues to operate as the primary facilitator for Chicago. The Bulls rely on his perimeter production as he continues to close the 12-game gap between his current total and Jordan’s historic franchise mark.
