Josep Betalú wins the Stone Giant

The mountains of Castellón were once again the setting for a great day of mountain biking. The Stone Giant 2023 closed another edition to frame with the triumph of Josep Betalú. In total there were more than 200 cyclists who achieved the desired finisher wood after completing 200 kilometers and 6,500 meters of accumulated positive elevation gain, but it was the Catalan who crossed the finish line first.

Betalú, who last year completed a double lap of the Gigante de Piedra circuit in 27 hours without stopping, maintained a Vibrant duel with the European champion of the specialty: Llibert Mill. The fight fell on the side of the Catalan who also set a new track record with a time of 9:53:30. In this way, Josep Betalú confirms that he is going through a very sweet moment in his career. After overcoming a knee operation that forced him to start the season late, he finished second in the Titan Desert Marrocco 2023 and, now, he has managed to win the toughest Mountain Bike ultramarathon in Spain, the Gigante de Piedra.

The Stone Giant 2023 is already history, but with the passing of the editions it only confirms that it is a cult test for Mountain Bike ultramarathon specialists. In 2024 it will return with the demand that characterizes the mountains of Castellón.
