Jorge Polanco decides with a double the victory of the Twins 1-0 over the Guardians

Jorge Polanco had an RBI double in the seventh inning and Jhoan Duran finished a combined eight-hitter Friday as the Minnesota Twins beat the Cleveland Guardians 1-0.

Polanco’s shot off Nick Sandlin (2-3) sent the ball over the right-field wall, driving in Kyle Farmer from second. The teams went 1-for-11 combined with runners in scoring position until Minnesota responded.

Brock Stewart (2-0) got three outs for the win, stranding two runners in the seventh inning after Jovani Morán allowed two hits.

Durán took the mound with one out in the eighth inning and Steve Kwan at second. He struck out José Ramírez, intentionally walked Josh Naylor and fanned out Andrés Giménez to put out the fire.

Then he pitched the ninth for his eighth save in nine chances.

For the Guardians, the Dominicans Ramírez 4-0, Amed Rosario 1-0. Venezuelans Giménez 4-0, Guillermo Arias 1-0.

For the Twins, the Dominican Polanco 4-1 with an RBI. The Colombian Donovan Solano from 3-1. Puerto Rican Willi Castro 3-0.
