Jorge Martín arrived in Spain, specifically in Barcelona, to undergo surgery on his right-hand pinky. The Madrid native traveled from Malaysia to correct the fracture in the fifth metacarpal of his right hand. It is not expected that his left foot will require surgery at this time.
Upon arrival at the Quirón Dexeus hospital, Martín was accompanied by his father, Angel, and was received by Doctor Ángel Charte, the MotoGP medical director, and Doctor Xavier Mir, who would be performing the surgery. Interestingly, Doctor Mir had also operated on Martín’s teammate, Raúl Fernández, just hours before, in a procedure on Fernández’s left hand.
Following a strong fall in Sepang during the first day of MotoGP testing in 2025, Martín shared motivational messages on his social media accounts. On Instagram, he posted, “I have failed many more times than I have succeeded, but I have never stopped trying, see you soon.” He had also commented on a video of the incident, saying, “It has not been the best way to start 2025, but Martinator always gets stronger.”
Many MotoGP riders, as well as athletes from other disciplines, sent Martín messages of encouragement and support. Fans, athletes, and celebrities also wished him well. Pecco Bagnaia stated, “Seeing him, he was even lucky.” Aleix Espargaró, a friend of Martín’s, wrote, “Brother, force, one more to count, you will return with even more illusion.”
Upon arriving at the hospital, Martín briefly spoke about his condition. “I’m fine, wanting to recover quickly. I had a good impact, I was in quite a bit of pain, but nothing. Already on the trip, everything has gone well. We had our hours of caution in the hospital, and it seems that everything is fine, so nothing, that they put everything in its place. I don’t know what happened, the truth. It was a shame because it was my first exit with those tires. We have not been able to work much, but well, I know that Marco (Bezzecchi) is doing a great job, and surely we will find a quick way to go,” he told MotoGP.com.
