Jonathan Milan, the new sprint sensation in Italy

The second stage of the Saudi Tour left us, in addition to a hectic day marked by the fans, the victory of the young Italian Jonathan Milanwhich sends a warning to sailors for the future in the fight for sprints after beating two established sprinters like Dylan Groenewegen or Cees Bol in the volata.

Milan, 22 years old and born in Tolmezzo, at the foot of the Dolomites, is one of Italy’s great hopes for the sprint after signing for Bahrain-Victorious in the 2021 season and shine in 2022 with two third places in the Tour of Poland and two sprint victories in the CRO Race, beating renowned sprinters such as his compatriot Elia Viviani.

A Milan who wants to move to the road after shining in the velodrome, where he is a key player in the Italian pursuit team along with Filippo Ganna among others and with whom he won the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and in the Track Cycling World Championships held in Roubaix in 2021, and silver in the 2022 World Championships in Saint-Quintin.

A power that Milan has once again demonstrated this Tuesday in the Saudi Tour by winning the second stage and that the cyclist himself valued in statements collected by Bahrain-Victorious: “I am very happy for this victory, it was a big goal for me since last year when I saw that this race could be important for my future.
