Johan Zarco Wins French GP as Miguel Oliveira Crashes Out Late in the Race

Miguel Oliveira’s return to racing was marked by a dramatic turn of events at the French GP. The race started with a chaotic scene as rain began to fall just before the green light, catching many riders off guard. Some, like Oliveira, stuck with slick tires, while others quickly pitted for wet tires. For a brief moment, Oliveira was second, right behind Johan Zarco, who had also chosen not to pit.

Oliveira’s promising comeback was cut short when he lost control of his bike on lap 8, resulting in a highside crash. Fortunately, he got back up quickly. Oliveira had been making progress after a difficult sprint race the day before, where he finished 20th. He was recovering from a shoulder injury that kept him out of three previous races.

Zarco Takes the Win

Johan Zarco capitalized on the chaos to secure a dominant victory. He managed the tricky start perfectly, staying out on slicks and maintaining his lead despite the confusion around him. As the race unfolded, Zarco pulled away, eventually finishing over 19 seconds ahead of Marc Márquez.

Fermin Aldeguer also impressed, finishing third on the podium. This was his second consecutive top-three finish, having been third in the sprint race on Saturday.

Championship Standings

Marc Márquez extended his lead in the championship standings to 22 points. Despite finishing second behind Zarco, Márquez benefited from the misfortunes of his brother Álex and Francesco Bagnaia, who both failed to score points. Márquez now leads the championship with 171 points, followed by Álex Márquez with 149 and Bagnaia with 120.

The championship is heating up, with Márquez looking to continue his strong form. The next race promises to be just as exciting, with the top riders ready to battle it out once again.
