Joel Álvarez Returns to the Octagon Against Elves Brener on August 3
Joel ‘The Phenomenon’ Álvarez, a 20-3 lightweight fighter, is set to return to the octagon on August 3 in Abu Dhabi. Álvarez will face Brazilian opponent Elves Brener, who holds a 16-4 record.
The 31-year-old Spanish fighter had not fought since last July, with his previous bout being a victory against Marc Diakiese. Álvarez’s last two fights were cancelled due to visa issues and a possible trip to the United States.
“The Phenomenon” has a solid 5-2 record in the UFC and will have a challenging opponent in Elves Brener. Brener comes from a loss against Orolbai at UFC 301, but had previously won three consecutive fights in the company.
Álvarez will share the bill with Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov, with the main event being between “Chito” Vera and Deiveson Figueiredo. The card will also feature veterans Tony Ferguson and Nick Díaz.
