CSK announced the name of his South African League team
The Johannesburg franchise of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL) have been named ‘Joburg Super Kings’ in the South African T20 League. The captaincy of this team has been left in the hands of Faf du Plessis. At the same time, Stephen Fleming has been appointed head coach of this team.
CSKCL made its official announcement on Thursday. According to a press release, the announcement was made during an interaction session between CSKCL CEO KS Viswanathan, South African League 20 commissioner Graeme Smith, Joburg Super Kings captain du Plessis, head coach Fleming and Jono Leif Wright.
Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited also released their team’s new logo on this occasion. Joburg Super Kings captain Du Plessis spoke about the league’s impact on the country’s cricket and said he could make a big difference to South Africa’s younger generation.
Du Plessis talks about his relationship with Chennai Super Kings
Referring to his long association with CSK, Du Plessis said: “I have had a long and fortunate relationship with Chennai. I had the opportunity to follow him once again and I am very happy. I think the South African T20 league is very important for cricket in our country.
He further said that the IPL can understand what a big difference a league can make to a country’s cricket.
Du Plessis said: “I have seen from the front the effect that the cricket league can have on a country’s cricket. I am associated with IPL for the last 10-11 years. You can see the impact this has on the younger generation and young players, especially the Indian cricket team.
