Joan Mir and Honda Show Promise at Sepang MotoGP Test

The recent test of MotoGP in Sepang has shown significant progress for some riders. Luca Marini and Joan Mir, for example, have made improvements in their performance. Marini finished 15th in the Sprint and the Sunday race, while Mir finished 16th and did not complete the race. However, Mir’s performance on the grid was better, finishing 20th. Meanwhile, Zarco was the best Honda rider, finishing 11th.

In the two days of testing in Malaysia, Mir was able to finish sixth on both days. This progress is evident, and it is a positive sign for the team. Today, Zarco finished 12th and Marini finished 15th. The team’s progress is due in part to the arrival of new technical staff, including Romano Albesian, who has brought new ideas to the team, particularly in the area of aerodynamics.

There is a greater sense of positivity within the HRC team. The new technical staff has brought a fresh perspective, and the team has been able to identify areas for improvement. The test team has also been reinforced with the arrival of Aleix Espargaró and Takaki Nakagami, whose input has been valuable. According to Granollers, the team has been able to identify a good base for Joan and Luca to start the season with a competitive motorcycle.

The team’s ambition is contained, but there is a sense of optimism. Everyone knows that they still have a long way to go, but there is a feeling of openness and a desire to reclaim old laurels. The team has many more pieces in place than in previous years, and the economic power of the Japanese manufacturer is a significant factor. As Joan Mir said, “The Honda is starting to answer.”

Mir’s performance has been impressive, finishing sixth on both days of testing. He has been able to work with the electronics and has found a good rhythm. He is happy with the sensations and the progress made, and he believes that the team could still have done better. The arrival of new staff and the reinforcement of the test team have been key factors in the team’s progress.

Mir and his chief of mechanics, Santi Hernández, have been working together to fine-tune the motorcycle. Mir values the fact that his new Honda has another character, which suits his riding style. He believes that the motorcycle is starting to answer, and he is excited about the prospects for the season. The team’s progress is not limited to Mir, as Luca Marini also gives his approval to the new direction. He believes that good results can arrive in the second half of the season.

The team’s progress is not without its challenges, however. Zarco has expressed some doubts about the new motorcycle, preferring a less abrupt mount. Mir acknowledges that their riding styles are different, but he believes that if the team can improve the motorcycle’s performance in general, Zarco will also improve. The team is working together to address these challenges, and the future is looking positive for Honda.
