Jimmy Llibre is crowned champion of the Porsche Sprint Challenge

Dominican driver Jimmy Llibre was crowned champion of the Porsche Sprint Challenge 2022 last weekend, becoming the only Dominican to achieve this feat in his 911 GT3 Cup (991) category.

Llibre, from the MDK Motorsport team, managed to dominate throughout the championship season and finally competed in the grand finale at the Circuit of the Americas, Texas, in which he emerged as the first-place winner in the last race on Sunday.

Jimmy, who faced more than 40 pilots of different ages and nationalities, was grateful to the public, his native country and those who always supported him during this process, dedicating a few words to them.

“I am grateful to God, my family, the fans and the MDK Motorsports team for everything they have done throughout this season that culminated with the category title; a very important win for me,” he said.

The Creole pilot had an impeccable driving dominating the free practices on Friday. While, on Saturday, equally, he was in first place in the qualy, the qualifying race.

In the first race, held on Saturday, he battled hard against his opponent Zach Vanier, a heated race with a lot of pressure, in which victory escaped Llibre on the last lap of the five kilometer and 514 meter circuit.

However, on the same day he was crowned early champion due to his great career in the championship, with 7 races won out of 13 made, and 586 points accumulated.

Finally, on Sunday he reached the final victory in first place, culminating this impeccable trajectory with a total of 636 points.

Jacinto Peynado, president of Auto Europa, exclusive importer of Porsche for the Dominican Republic, accompanied Jimmy Llibre in this victory and was present during the championship giving him his support.
