Jimmy Butler did everything for the Miami Heat to beat the Boston Celtics 123-116 in Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. The forward finished with a record of 35 points, five rebounds, seven assists and six steals in 43 minutes on the court at TD Garden.
Jayson Tatum tried to keep the Celtics afloat with 30 points, but it wasn’t enough because Bam Adebayo added 20, along with 15 points a head between Gabe Vincent, Max Strus, Caleb Martin and Kyle Lowry.,
The first quarter ended evenly, with a partial victory for Boston by a score of 30-28, but Jimmy Butler started his show with 12 points. The pull-up jumpers were not lacking, nor were the free throws due to their ability to draw free kicks on the shot attempt.
The defense of those led by Joe Mazzulla on Butler improved during the second quarter; for this reason, Miami’s 22 committed two turnovers and only added two points. However, Kyle Lowry took it upon himself to open up the Celtics’ defense with three-point shots. The point guard scored two consecutive triples and finished the period with 13 goals.
Miami came close on the scoreboard at the beginning of the second half thanks to a combination of Bam Adebayo in the paint and 3-pointers from Max Strus and Kevin Love. Butler appeared again on the scoreboard with a tip, including a foul, to tie the game at 78 per side.
The duel between Tatum and Butler continued. Both forwards were in charge of exchanging baskets, taking fouls in shooting actions and controlling the rhythm of the game. The best offensive version of Miami appeared in the third quarter. The visitors made 17 of 26 shots and took a 12-point lead as the period ended; Heat beat Boston 46-25.
The lead was cut to five points after a 3-pointer by Derrick White and back-to-back jumpers by Malcolm Brogdon and Jaylen Brown. However, a three-pointer from Vincent and a layup from Martin returned everything to normal. Butler managed the ball in the last minutes of the game and dished out assists for Adebayo and Caleb Martin, as well as generating 7* points for himself.
