Jewelry, Lamborghini, Ferrari… He touches the RSA but is suspected of tax evasion

To flush out fraudsters, the tax authorities can now use social networks. This is how they have just trapped a man suspected of tax evasion. As told by France Bleu Burgundy-Franche-Comte, Thursday, May 19, a resident of Haut-Doubs, aged 32 and beneficiary of the RSA, regularly appeared on social networks with branded clothes, jewelry and luxury cars. In 2020, the man had created two real estate companies to buy housing in this department close to Switzerland. He renovated them and then resold them with a higher capital gain. He would thus have made several thousand million euros in profits. Except that he didn’t declare them to the tax authorities and he doesn’t have a balance sheet for his companies either.

After a report, an investigation was opened. He was finally arrested on Tuesday May 17. During the search, the gendarmes seized a new Lamborghini worth 265,000 euros and a Mercedes C65 worth 50,000 euros, says France Bleu. They also found documents for the order of a Ferrari, watches, jewelry and designer clothes for a total value of 50,000 euros. In police custody, the man completely disputed the facts. The investigation should determine the number of real estate sales, the conditions of renovation of housing, the terms of transactions and also assess the extent of the damage.

This is not the first time that the tax services have to deal with this type of fraudster. Capital relayed last April the story of a business manager who had somewhat concealed from declaring all of his income between 2013 and 2015. In total, he is suspected of having defrauded for more than 120,000 euros. In 2021, the controls of the General Directorate of Public Finance (DGFiP) enabled the State to pocket the sum of 10.7 billion euros thanks to its hunt for fraudsters.
