Jesús Mejía retires from the management of Gigantes del Cibao

Through a statement published on the social networks of the Cibao GiantsJesus Mejia announced his departure from the position of general manager for the San Francisco de Macorís-based franchise, a position he held in the last three seasons of the Dominican League.

In the statement, the executive explained that "For professional reasons I have decided to exercise the contractual exit clause and leave the position of general manager”.

During his tenure, Mejía was the architect of playoff qualifiers in three consecutive seasons, including two participations in the Final Series of winter ball, achieving the championship in the 2021-2022 season.

“It has been an extremely difficult decision, but necessary right now”, says the statement that bears the signature of the baseball man.

He thanked the support provided by the organization’s board of directors, as well as his colleagues within the operations department, the coaching staff, players and the legion of fans.

Just two days ago, Félix Peguero, former manager of the Estrellas Orientales, announced his momentary departure from the league, so now said position is vacant in two teams on the circuit.

Likewise, it is expected that with the expiration of Raymond Abreu’s contract at the head of the Toros del Este, the franchise is looking for a new manager, although it is still holding the reins, according to what was reported by sources to this newspaper.
