Jeremy Peña hits a home run and the Astros triumph

Kyle Tucker wrapped up the game with an RBI single in the ninth inning, Jose Altuve and rookie Jeremy Pena hit solo homers, and the Houston Astros beat the Detroit Tigers 3-2 Thursday night.

Yordan Alvarez singled off Gregory Soto (1-2) with no outs in the ninth inning and was replaced by pinch-runner Chas McCormick.

Yuli Gurriel walked before Tucker drove in McCormic with a groundout single to center field for Houston’s fourth straight win.

Tucker contributed his hit to the Astros’ somersault after closer Ryan Pressly blew the save in the top of the final inning on his return from the disabled list.

The Astros led 2-0 with two outs in the final inning when Pressly (1-1) gave up a single to Miguel Cabrera.

With two strikes against, Jeimer Candelario tied it 2-2 with a shot that went to the second platform in the direction of right field.

Houston starter José Urquidy allowed six hits in six shutout innings. Hector Neris gave up a hit in the seventh inning and Rafael Montero struck out one scoreless in the eighth before Pressly succumbed on the mound.

For the Astros, the Venezuelan José Altuve 4-2, one scored, one produced. Cubans Yordan Álvarez 4-2 and Yuli Gurriel 3-0. The Dominicans Jeremy Peña 3-1, one scored, one RBI, and José Siri 3-0. Puerto Rican Martin Maldonado 3-0.

For the Tigres, Puerto Rican Javier Báez 4-0. Venezuelans Miguel Cabrera 4-3 and Harold Castro 4-1.
