Jennifer Lopez Sued for Copyright Infringement Over Paparazzi Photo

Jennifer Lopez is in hot water. A photographer is suing her for copyright infringement. The problem started when she posted a photo of herself on the red carpet.

She didn’t ask the photographer for permission. The photo was taken at a party before the Golden Globes. It showed Lopez in a fake fur coat.

The photographer, Edwin Blanco, and his company, BackGrid USA, are suing Lopez. They claim she used the photo to promote herself and the brands she was wearing.

This isn’t the first time Lopez has been in trouble for this. In 2019, she was sued for posting a paparazzi photo of herself and her boyfriend at the time, Alex Rodriguez.

The law in the US says the person who takes the photo owns the copyright. Just because someone is in the photo, it doesn’t mean they own it.

Lopez’s team hasn’t commented on the lawsuit yet. The photographer is asking for up to $150,000 in damages.

Other celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, and Justin Bieber have been in similar situations. They’ve been sued for posting paparazzi photos of themselves without permission.

The lawsuit is a reminder that just because you’re in a photo, it doesn’t mean you own it. Billboard reported on the story.
