Jennifer Aniston Reveals 20-Year IVF Journey for Children, Refutes Speculation

Jennifer Aniston is finally putting an end to the widespread story about her family life. She’s been under the spotlight for years, and the talk never stopped. Now, the beloved star is setting the record straight.

The Friends star, who is 56, tackled rumors about her private world. She did this in a fresh interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK. The magazine released her story on Wednesday, October 8.

Aniston spoke about the constant chatter. "They didn’t know my journey," she explained. "They didn’t know what I went through for 20 years. I was trying to start a family. I don’t share my medical issues with the world. That’s personal." But she noted the public story was impossible to ignore. "People kept saying I wouldn’t have a baby. They said I wouldn’t have a family. They called me selfish. They called me a workaholic."

She’s been in Hollywood for a long time. Still, the actress shared that the comments hurt her. "I’m just a person," she said simply. "We all are just people." This made her wonder, "What is wrong with them?"

Aniston had previously opened up about her IVF experience. She told Allure magazine in 2022 that the constant talk was hard. "All those years of guesses were very tough," she said. "I was doing IVF. I was drinking Chinese teas. I tried everything. I gave it my absolute all." She wished someone had given her different advice back then. "I would have given anything," she continued, "if someone told me to freeze my eggs. Do yourself that favor." She pointed out that people just don’t think about it at the time. "So here I am now. That chance is gone."

During that Allure chat, Aniston pushed back on being called "selfish" for not having kids. "I only cared about my work," she stated. "And heaven forbid a woman finds success but doesn’t have a child." Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar UK again, she explained her reasons for sharing her story now. "I knew so many women back then," she said. "They were trying for children, going through IVF. So I felt it wasn’t just about me. It was for any woman dealing with similar struggles."

The Morning Show star has a full professional plate. She was married to Brad Pitt from 2000 to 2005. Later, she married Justin Theroux from 2015 to 2018. Despite all this, she still has big plans for her career. She certainly isn’t slowing down.

She told the magazine that the idea of an "expiration date" for women is old-fashioned. "That social idea is gone," she declared. She spoke about making space for older women in entertainment. "We are here, and we are more than half the population. Would any of you silly people even be here without us?" she joked.

Aniston then praised her Morning Show co-star, Reese Witherspoon. She also mentioned other stars like Sandra Bullock. Aniston sees them as big trailblazers for women. "I’m not going to take credit for breaking new ground!" she chuckled. "All these women, who have been here and still are, show what we can do. So if we are pioneers, I will proudly wear that badge."

Beyond her career wins, Aniston has also found love again. She is now with her boyfriend, Jim Curtis. The couple made their relationship Instagram official in September. Entertainment reports, including Us Weekly, had confirmed their relationship two months prior. A source shared details back in July. "Her friends always tried to set her up," the source said. "She usually just joked about it and didn’t take it seriously." But Jim felt different to her. "She decided to give it a real try," the source added.
