Jean Todt Opens Up About Visiting Michael Schumacher Frequently

The accident in December 2013 had a significant impact on the health status of Michael Schumacher. Since then, his family has been very private about his condition. One of the few people who regularly visits Schumacher is Jean Todt, the former president of the FIA. Todt has a close relationship with Schumacher and his family, which dates back to their time together in Formula 1.

Schumacher’s family has chosen to keep his condition private, and they have asked for discretion from the public and the media. However, in a court case in Germany last December, a prosecutor described Schumacher as “partially helpless, in need of care and visibly marked by his wounds.” This information became public due to a trial related to an alleged blackmail threat against Schumacher’s family, in which it was claimed that images and videos of his current condition would be published.

According to Jean Todt, his relationship with Schumacher goes beyond their professional ties. Todt said, “I see him regularly and with love, him and his family. Our link goes beyond our last work. It is part of my life, which today is far from Formula 1.” Todt respects the family’s decision to keep Schumacher’s condition private and has expressed support for their choice.

Despite the media’s interest in knowing Schumacher’s current condition, Todt has chosen to respect the family’s decision to keep it private. Todt has mentioned that he sometimes watches Formula 1 races with Schumacher, which shows that their friendship extends beyond their professional relationship in the sport. In 2022, Todt revealed that they would occasionally watch races together, demonstrating the strong bond between them.
