Jean Segura links two hits in the reverse of the Phillies

Dansby Swanson scored the go-ahead run in the fifth on a chaotic sequence of plays by the Phillies, and the Atlanta Braves beat Philadelphia 8-4 on Wednesday night.

Swanson singled and scored to give the Braves a 5-4 lead in action that began with a wild pitch by reliever José Alvarado (0-2) and followed by a throw too high by catcher JT Realmuto in a attempt to prevent Swanson from reaching second base.

And then the worst came.

The ball got away despite second baseman Jean Segura and shortstop Bryson Slott stretching out their arms. Then he went under the glove of Venezuelan center fielder Odubel Herrera for an error that cost two bases.

It seemed that Segura or Slott were in a position to catch the ball. No errors were reported to any of them.

Herrera ended up going back to collect the ball in the warning strip.

Spencer Strider (1-1) got the win in relief.

For the Phillies, the Dominican Segura 5-2 with a run scored and an RBI. The Venezuelan Herrera 4-2 with one scored and two produced.

For the Braves, the Dominican Marcell Ozuna 5-1. Venezuelans William Contreras 2-1 with two runs scored and one RBI, Orlando Arcia 3-2 with a run scored and an RBI
