The 2023 ODI World Cup begins on October 5th on Indian soil. All teams have until September 5th to send their list of 15 players to the ICC. Additionally, teams can make changes to their rosters until September 27th. Team India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is fit and will captain Team India on the Ireland tour. At the same time, Team India has two such bowlers, but only one of them can be included in Team India’s roster for the 2023 World Cup.
These players are great contenders for a spot
Before the ODI World Cup, Team India has to play the ODI series against Australia. In the Australian and Asian Cups, most of the same players are likely to be selected to make it to the ODI World Cup. According to a PTI report, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are all ready to take part in the World Cup, but only one of Shardul Thakur and Jaydev Unadkat can get a chance for the fourth bowler.
Game played after 10 years
Jaydev Unadkat played ODIs on West Indies soil for 10 years winning 1 wicket. He is the only contender for a World Cup spot as a left-arm bowler as young Arshdeep Singh has a spot at the Asian Games and is unable to compete in the World Cup. The team management has kept Unadkat with them for so long. From this it can be concluded that he is being prepared for the great occasion.
Shardul Thakur, on the other hand, was in good shape and did well. He took 8 wickets in the ODI series against the West Indies. Besides his excellent bowling, he is also a skilled player at beating the lower tier.
These players are also involved in the race
Hardik Pandya is expected to find a place in the ODI World Cup as an all-rounder, but he can bowl at least 6-8 overs, if not 10. If the famous Krishna is fit, he can also be included in the team as he is too Explosively bowled early in the inning.
