The 4th Liga Betclic Awards ceremony was a grand celebration of basketball excellence.
The event, held at Alfândega do Porto, saw Rebecca Taylor, a 32-year-old forward from Basquete Barcelos, sweep the MVP, Top Scorer, and Top Rebounder awards.
This impressive feat follows her similar achievements last season.
Men’s Liga Betclic Winners
The men’s competition saw several standout players.
Javien Davis, a 25-year-old forward from Imortal, was named MVP.
Gregory Parham II from Queluz led the league in scoring, while Michael Durr from Galomar topped the rebounding charts.
Other notable winners include:
- Miguel Monteiro (Esgueira) for most assists
- Tanner Omlid (FC Porto) for most steals and best defender
- Xeyrius Williams (FC Porto) for most blocks
- André Cruz (Sporting) for young player of the year
- Fernando Sá (FC Porto) for coach of the year
The FC Porto team dominated the awards, winning four accolades.
They had already won the Supertaça and Taça de Portugal this season.
Women’s Liga Betclic Winners
In the women’s league, several players stood out.
Rebecca Taylor (Basquete Barcelos) again excelled, winning MVP, Top Scorer, and Top Rebounder awards.
Other winners include:
- Carolina Anacleto (Sanjoanense) for most assists
- Gabriela Raimundo (Esgueira) for most steals and best defender
- Dayna Rouse (GDESSA Barreiro) for most blocks
- Isabela Quevedo (Benfica) for young player of the year
- André Janicas (Esgueira) for coach of the year
The Esgueira team made a strong showing, with Gabriela Raimundo and coach André Janicas receiving awards.
Special Recognition
The event also honored individuals for their contributions to basketball.
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to former international referee Fernando Rocha.
Olímpio Bento, a coach, received the Excellence Award.
Teresa Barata, a former Portuguese international, was given a Special Tribute award.
These awards recognize the dedication and hard work of individuals who have made a significant impact on the sport.
