Using a courageous race strategy, she launched him from the first kilometer in a frantic march towards his fourth national marathon title. “I started at a bit of a kamikaze pace, but I felt good and I wanted to show what I have in my legs. I have paid a little in the final kilometers, with the wind, but very happy to win the title again ten years after the first one”, commented Javi Guerra, who stayed on the edge of the test record despite the Cierzo: 2h11 :42.

They completed the podium of the Spanish Championship HOKA athlete Alejandro Jimenezwith a spectacular time of 2h13:20, and the Jacetano Alberto Puyuelowho prevailed in a close duel against the legendary champion and HOKA athlete, Reyes Estevezfourth in the national in its premiere in the 42 kilometers and 195 meters.

The 10K breaks all records

If the Marathon offered us high-flying athletics, the 10K of the MANN-FILTER Zaragoza CaixaBank Marathon was not far behind, with more than 4,300 runners through the most central streets of the Aragonese capital -new test record- and a shower of records in this approved 10K, one of the fastest and most beautiful in Zaragoza.

Carlos Mayo did not fail. The lion roared and roared loud. He came to test himself and he simply flew, signing a great time at the finish line: 29:35. “I have felt very good and I have really enjoyed the streets of my city. Now I know that I am prepared to assault the 10K national record of my friend Toni Abadía”, declared Mayo when taking the finish line. That pace, the new top of the test, was inaccessible to Pablo Salaverría (30:39) and Ricard Pastó (31:01), who corroborated on the asphalt the theoretical favoritism with which they arrived at the short test of the MANN-FILTER Zaragoza Marathon CaixaBank.

As for the femalesIraia Mendia confirmed the good shape that had already made her shine throughout the winter cross season. The young athlete from Lazkao, only 20 years old, flew over her HOKA through the center of Zaragoza to break the test record in more than 2 minutes, with a record of 34:03. Given the immeasurable display of Mendia, Cristina Espejo had to settle for second place, with a time (35:15) that tastes like victory in his first experience on the asphalt. The local Scorpio athlete Isabel Linares achieved a creditable third position, sneaking into a podium with talent in abundance. A morning of emotions. A morning of records. Because there is no Cierzo that stops the MANN-FILTER Zaragoza Marathon CaixaBank, a lion that roars louder every year
