Oviedo’s New Coach Sets Ambitious Goals and Expectations
In his first statements since taking over as the new coach of Oviedo, Avi Calleja has outlined his vision for the team. The Madrid-based coach emphasized the need for his team to be brave and take the initiative from the start, playing an offensive game that will allow them to hurt their opponents.
Calleja’s priority is to build a team that fits well with the idea of Oviedoism, a philosophy that he believes will resonate with the club’s fans. "People are going to feel very identified with the team and what we want is to give them lots of joy," he said.
The coach arrives in Oviedo accompanied by his trusted technical team, and the pair are eager to start working with the players. "We are looking forward to starting work now and seeing the players and for them to see our way of working," Calleja stated.
The Carlos Tartiere stadium is currently under construction, and as a result, the coach’s presentation will take place at the Legend of the Rooster, a collaborating establishment of the club, tomorrow at 11:00 am. Calleja has several tasks on his agenda, including deciding which reserve team players will start working under his command and planning the final details of a preseason that will begin on Monday at 10:00 am in El Requexón.
