Jasprit Bumrah fights against time and faces the difficult challenge of getting in shape before the World Cup

During this, Bumrah was unable to play cricket series against the West Indies, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Australia. He is out of IPL 2023 due to injury. In general, all is not well for Bumrah. He is fighting against time. In such a situation, he has a tough challenge to get fit before the 2023 World Cup.

Jasprit Bumrah has already been ruled out of IPL 2023 due to back problems. He now has an important tournament like the World Cup ahead of him. In October-November, the 50+ World Cup will be organized in India. If he is not in shape ahead of time, it will be difficult for him to play in the World Cup. Anyway, it takes a long time for him to get rid of the back problem. It is officially said that Bumrah will take four weeks to get back on his feet. But the recovery process is long. Because rehabilitation will begin after recovery, which can take three to five months. In such a situation, Bumrah has a tough challenge to get fit before the World Cup. According to a senior BCCI official, ‘It is difficult for Bumrah to be in shape for the stipulated time. When he recovers from the surgery, he will have to go to rehab. After he finishes rehab, we’ll know when Bumrah will return.

In July 2022, Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain following the second ODI against England. After which he did not play the third game. In August 2022, he was ruled out of the ODI series against the West Indies. He was ruled out of the Asia Cup in August 2022 for not being fit on time. In September 2022, he returned against South Africa ahead of the T20 World Cup. After throwing 5 overs in this series, he brought up his old injury and in October 2022 he was ruled out of the T20 World Cup. He missed the New Zealand tour in November. He couldn’t go on a tour of Bangladesh in December. He was in the ODI squad against Sri Lanka in January 2023 but withdrew with back pain. In February 2023, Jasprit Bumrah was left out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, IPL and World Test Championship.
