Jasikevicius: “We are one of the teams with the most room for improvement”

After defeating Bàsquet Girona (72-69)the coach of Barça, Sarunas Jasikevicius, highlighted this Sunday that the azulgrana is “one of the teams that has more room for improvement” from Europe and claimed to be “very excited” with its possibilities. “We are very excited about this team. We are one of the teams with the most room for improvement. We are missing important people and the new ones are integrating very well. We have to have a little patience, although nobody has patience in the world of sport”, affirmed the coach in the press room of the Palau Blaugrana.

The Lithuanian coach highlighted the performance of Oscar da Silva, scorer of 16 points: “The level of this template is very high. We have to be very happy with Oscar’s performance, he is making great strides. Perhaps, the others did not take advantage of their opportunities, but not all players are going to play well every day. This is quite difficult.” “For a few minutes we were very good, but we should have closed the game earlier. I also understand the boys, because because of my rotations sometimes I put them in difficult situations, but I do it to give everyone opportunities. Can’t be an excuse, but this ain’t easy”, analyzed Jasikevicius.

The Barça coach recognized that Friday’s victory against Fenerbahçe Beko could have had a negative influence on them: “It is always more difficult to recover from an important victory. We still didn’t know how to manage the important victory on Friday. We have lost control of the game, but in the end we have endured and this is the most positive”.

Finally, Jasikevicius spared no praise for his compatriot Rokas Jokubaitis, who this Sunday reached 100 official matches with the Barça shirt. “The Rokas thing is crazy. At this age, having his head where he has it with what he has already achieved… It is very difficult to arrive at Barça and have this role at his age. For me it is more special because I remember his first steps at Zalgiris, at 16. He has a lot of room for improvement. The other day he said that I hope it reaches 300, well, I’ll sign it”, settled.
