Japanese Police Shoot Thai Man Three Times After Attempt to Ram Officers

A Japanese police investigation turned violent when a Thai man allegedly sped towards officers in his car. The incident occurred on June 13, 2023, in Chiba Prefecture.

Two police officers from the Asahi City Police Station were on patrol when they came across three parked cars. They approached the vehicles to investigate and found one empty car and two cars with a man in each. The officers began questioning the men separately.

One of the officers, who was more senior, spoke with a man claiming to be Thai. This individual attempted to flee and became aggressive, prompting the other officer to assist. The Thai man was subsequently arrested for obstructing justice but managed to bite one of the officers on the arm.

Meanwhile, one of the other cars suddenly sped towards the officers, forcing them to fire three shots in response. The car escaped, but the officers were left shaken.

The arrested man, in his 30s, claimed to be a part-time worker from Thailand. Later that evening, around 8:20 pm, a Thai man in his 30s with a shoulder injury arrived at the local police station with an acquaintance. He admitted to being the driver of the car and acknowledged that he had been shot by the police. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment, and authorities continue to investigate the incident to uncover the full truth.
