Japanese Man Stabs Strangers at Tokyo Subway Station, Injuring 2 People

A 43-year-old Japanese man stabbed two strangers at a Tokyo subway station on Tuesday, injuring a university student. The attack happened at around 6:55 p.m. local time at the Todaimae station on the Nanboku line. The suspect, identified as Yoshitaka Toda, was arrested at the scene, police said.

Toda allegedly stabbed a young man waiting for a train on the platform. The victim ran onto a train, but Toda followed and continued to attack him.

Injuries and Investigation

Two people were injured in the attack, including the university student. Police are now investigating the motive behind the attack.

Toda was seen on CCTV footage lingering around the station for about 30 minutes before the attack. He entered the restroom and sat on a bench without showing any suspicious behavior. The attack seemed unprovoked, with no prior interaction between Toda and the victims.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage and examining Toda’s background and mental state. They say Toda has not cooperated with the investigation so far. The incident is being treated as a random attack.
